Cage and Kessinger Earn Weinstock and Jackson Awards
NBFAA Presents Honors at The Evening Event

Irving, Texas, April 9, 2007 – The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) presented the Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year Award to Chris Cage, general counsel for the U.S. division of Brink’s Inc. and the Sara E. Jackson Memorial Award to Greg Kessinger, owner of Safe Harbor Security during The Evening Event at the association’s 2007 Spring Conference in Las Vegas.

First presented in 1970, the Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year Award was initiated by the family of the NBFAA co-founder and past president in memory of Weinstock’s contributions to the industry. The award is presented each year to the person who has most impacted the industry through volunteer activities.

Chris Cage: 2006 Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year

Cage, the 2006 Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year Award winner has served the industry and generously devoted his time to various NBFAA functions and benefits as a dedicated volunteer during his 20-plus year tenure with Brink’s Home Security.

His expertise was invaluable during the creation of NBFAA’s model ordinance in 1994, and he has helped shape the industry through his volunteerism on such NBFAA committees as Bylaws, Government Relations and the False Alarm Committee.

Cage served as the NBFAA representative to the Security Industry Alarm Coalition for four years, as secretary on the Alarm Industry Research and Educational Foundation for four years and for four years on the NBFAA Executive Committee.

“Chris has been a long time member of this association and has always been available to help his fellow members. His knowledge and experience have been a tremendous asset to our organization and this industry,” said NBFAA President George Gunning.

The award, presented to Cage by Mel Mahler, founder of ADS Security LP and last year’s award recipient, is highly regarded as the industry’s highest honor.

Greg Kessinger: 2007 Sara E. Jackson Memorial Award Recipient

The 2007 Sara E. Jackson Committee Leadership Award was presented to Kessinger of Ohio, for his outstanding leadership as chair of the NBFAA Fire/Life Safety Committee.

The Sara E. Jackson Memorial Award is named in honor of the 1950-51 NBFAA president and is presented annually to an NBFAA committee chair that has displayed outstanding leadership.

Kessinger started his own one-man alarm company in 1982. As his business matured, he realized the benefits of aligning with the NBFAA and began attending annual meetings, eventually getting involved in the Fire Section. His professional knowledge and enthusiasm were soon recognized and he was asked to chair the committee now known as the Fire/Life Safety Committee.

Kessinger’s recent work on the Fire/Life Safety Committee has included lending support to the Government Relations Committee in drafting fire safety legislation that is currently being circulated in Washington D.C. and contributing to the NBFAA Standard for Remote Supervising Station.

“His 20 plus years of experience in the fire/life safety arena provide the solid foundation of knowledge required to lead a committee of this nature. Combine true subject matter expertise with resolute dedication to this association and you get a good sense of how valuable Greg has been as a member and a leader on this committee for the past four years,” Gunning said.
