NBFAA Hosts Annual Spring Conference in Las Vegas
Annual Leadership Symposium with Chapter Workshop Planned

Irving, Texas, Jan. 31, 2007 – The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) will again welcome members and guests to the association’s annual Spring Conference held in conjunction with the 2007 ISC West Expo. Featured events include the Leadership Symposium, fourth annual Golf Without Guilt tournament, the first-ever Shootin’ Skeet event, The Evening Event and a new general member session and breakfast followed by the NBFAA Emerging Technology Forum which will be open to all ISC attendees.

NBFAA’s bi-annual Leadership Symposium will feature a Chapter Workshop, Board of Director’s meeting, committee meetings, member reception and the Annual Leadership Awards Luncheon. The Chapter Workshop will include a presentation on “Association Leadership 101” from Mike Horgan, owner of H&S Protection Systems, Inc., Waukesha, Wis.; a media seminar from David Margulies, The Margulies Communications Group, Dallas; and a discussion of the NBFAA National Apprenticeship Program presented by Art Webster, Arthur Webster & Associates, Carlsbad, Calif. The Chapter Workshop, which will be held Sunday, March 25 at Treasure Island, will be followed by a member reception that evening.

Monday, March 26, NBFAA will honor its volunteer leaders for their hard work and enthusiastic support of the industry and the association. That afternoon the association’s board of directors will meet to discuss key issues and activities.

On Tuesday, March 27, the day before the start of ISC West, the Alarm Industry Research and Educational Foundation (AIREF)/NBFAA fourth annual Golf Without Guilt Tournament will take place at the Revere Golf Club — voted best Las Vegas golf course. Proceeds from the event provide funds to support AIREF and other NBFAA programs that enhance the growth potential of electronic life safety, security and system integrators nationwide.

For the first year, non-golfers will have the option to participate in a separate fundraising event, the first-ever Shootin’ Skeet at the Las Vegas Gun Club on that same day. Golfers and skeet shooters will have the opportunity to join others in the industry for The Evening Event later that night at Treasure Island’s Kahunaville. The Evening Event, which offers an exciting way to start off ISC West, will include heavy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. As the climax of the evening, the prestigious Morris F. Weinstock and Sara E. Jackson Awards will be presented to two dedicated industry individuals.

The nationally-acclaimed Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year Award is considered the most prestigious honor in the electronic security and life safety industry. First presented in 1970, the award was initiated by the Weinstock family to honor the lifetime work of the NBFAA co-founder and past president. Honoring the memory of 1950-51 NBFAA President Sara E. Jackson, this distinguished award is given annually to the NBFAA committee chair who displays outstanding leadership.

The final major event of the week will include the presentation of the 2006 First Line of Defense award during the NBFAA general member session and breakfast on Thursday, March 29. This free session for current and prospective members is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration is required.

Following the general member session and breakfast, NBFAA will host the first-ever NBFAA Emerging Technology Forum. This new event will feature two keynote speakers: Jordan Serlin, president of Cenuco Wireless Division, and Robert Diamond, CEO and co-founder of Xanboo.

This year NBFAA event sponsors include the Weinstock-level sponsors: Honeywell and SIA; and the Jackson-level sponsors: ADI and Napco Security Group. Other sponsors include: ISC Expo, Altronix, DSC, Tri-ed, Security America, Vector Security and Systems Sensor.

Additional 2007 Spring Conference information, including how to register for the events, can be found on NBFAA’s Web site at www.alarm.org.
