Certified Alarm Co. president Eddie Buckley, Jr. never dreamed one of his alarms would end up saving the life of a young boy, but that is just what happened on a Sunday afternoon in April.
A young boy, riding his dirt bike, crashed through a large plate glass window of Marvin Morgan Furniture in Leighton, Ala. The alarm system’s glass break sensors activated the sirens and sent the alarm signal to Certified Alarm’s Underwriters Laboratories (UL) listed central station.
The exterior sirens caught the attention of the boy’s parents at their home near the store and the mother went looking for him. She found him lying in a field next to the furniture store, unconscious and covered in blood. Emergency medical technicians arrived and had the boy airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. where he underwent five hours of surgery. Doctors were able to save the boy and he is recovering from the near fatal accident.
“We get a lot of negative publicity regarding our industry,” said Buckley. “I thought this story would be another great example of our industry’s tremendous contributions to society.”>
