H.R. 5920 Federal Background Checks
Important information regarding your employees
Just uploaded to our Web site, www.alarm.org, and located at members/government relations/federal legislation, are two letters regarding HR 5920 legislation.
As security professionals, we have long recognized the need to conduct extensive background checks to provide employers with relevant criminal history record information. HR 5920 is the bill that would allow the electronic life safety and security industry to access the FBI database to conduct these checks. The bill would also allow for reciprocity, meaning that a background check in one state would be accepted in another state for up to two years. For the safety of our customers and businesses, we need your help to push this bill through.
Please take the time to send a letter to your Representative. There are two letters on the website – one for Representatives in states that do not require the industry to conduct background checks and the other for states that do. Please choose the appropriate one and send it today.
Thank you for your help.
